Core Partnership in Canada FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About Core Partnership in Canada

  1. Do I need a Passport?

A passport is required for non-Canadian citizens. Travel from the U.S. is NOT permitted without one.

  2. For what dates should I book my flights?

You must arrive 1 day prior to the course start date. We strongly recommend departing 1 day after the course end date. While "Red Eye" flights are sometimes available out of the Edmonton International Airport, we cannot guarantee your arrival in time, especially for international flights.

  3. Where do participants stay?

All participants are encouraged to book lodging in Stony Plain. There are 3 facilities within one block of each other and the Core Partnership daily shuttle will pick you up at one of these hotels each course day. We will confirm the exact location in your preparatory email shortly before your course.

  4. How many nights do I need a hotel room?

You will need to book a hotel in Stony Plain a minimum of 4 nights, beginning the night prior to your course start date.

For a flight out the day after your course ends, you'll need a 5th night, either in Stony Plain or near the airport. (The Core shuttle will take you to Stony Plain or the airport area on the final course date evening only.)

  5. How do I get to Stony Plain, Alberta from the Edmonton International Airport?

Stony Plain is a small community about 40 minutes from Edmonton. Several taxi and shuttle services are available from the airport. Airport Taxi Service offers a $99 service from Edmonton Airport to Stony Plain, Alberta.

  6. Can I drive a rental car to the facility each day?

Due to at least 8 miles of unpaved roads between Stony Plain and the Sawatzky Equine Services' facility, we strongly recommend using the Core daily shuttle. Variable weather effects these roads and can cause unfamiliar or inadequate vehicles to experience significant difficulties.

  7. Are campgrounds available?

Memory Lane Campground & RV Park is 2.5 miles from the Sawatzky Equine Services facility. Participants staying at the campground are responsible for their transportation to and from the course location on unpaved roads. Please let PAX Programs know if you intend to camp, so that we can provide you with the facility location.

  8. Where do I go for dinners?

Restaurants, Services and Shopping are all within walking and brief shuttle distance in Stony Plain. For a complete list please visit Stony Plain Chamber of Commerce.
